An Update from Delaware Prosperity Partnership April 2022 Eight Delaware projects sharing $6.2M from new Site Readiness Fund to bring new jobs to Southern, Central and Northern Delaware Eight projects are sharing $6.2 million from the new Site Readiness Fund, which was created as part of Delaware's strategy to make access to ready-to-go sites easier and quicker to support business growth and new jobs. The Fund provides grants, loans or other assistance to qualified businesses or local governments for construction, renovation or improvement of commercial and industrial sites. These sites must be readily available to new businesses, existing businesses considering moving to Delaware or existing Delaware businesses that need additional locations to remain or expand within the state. Receiving $1 million each in this first round of funding were Chestnut Run Innovation and Science Park, the City of Harrington, Drawbridge Claymont, E & D Holdings, Martin Property Development and Sussex County. Receiving $100,000 each were the City of Milford and Shanlan Corporation. Read more here. Venture capital analyst and advisor Pedro Moore finds Delaware a fertile ground for investment in early-stage companies While enrolled at the University of Delaware, Pedro Moore founded a student entrepreneurship club and was eager to learn how to invest in companies before they went public. When Delaware venture capitalist David Freschman, who founded angel venture fair Early Stage East, spoke to club members, Moore made a vital connection that launched his career as an analyst and advisor for funding startups. Today, Moore remains Delaware-based, finding success both in and beyond the state that is top-ranked for venture capital funding per capita. He is an analyst for Daymond John, who is an investor on the TV program "Shark Tank," and other clients such as Wilmington-based True Access Capital. He also is starting a venture fund and has launched several businesses outside the venture capital world, including the coIN Loft, Delaware's first coworking space, and Bump N Play, the state's first bubble soccer company.
