Message from Chairman Reed Regarding COVID-19

Header

Dear EXIM Stakeholders,

The Export-Import Bank of the United States (EXIM) recognizes that the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic around the world has left many in unpredictable and difficult situations. Our thoughts are with each of you, and we hope this message finds you, your family, and your friends in good health.

I want you to know that during this challenging time, we are committed to our mission of supporting U.S. jobs through exports. EXIM is open and operational and we will continue to do everything we can to support our American businesses and workers while also following Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other U.S. government guidance. Our EXIM workforce stands ready to serve as we also maximize our teleworking capabilities. You can reach us at www.exim.gov/contact.

In response to the current situation, EXIM announced initial relief measures for U.S. exporters and financial institutions, including waivers, deadline extensions, streamlined processing, and flexibility, on March 12, 2020. These measures are in place for an initial period of 30 days, with the possibility of further extension at EXIM’s discretion, and designed to allow business owners to focus their attention on the health of their employees, without worry of meeting EXIM’s deadlines. You can find specifics of each program, including information on who to contact if you have questions, on our online fact sheet.

We will continue to closely monitor the evolving situation, as we take our responsibility to support and protect our customers, colleagues, and the American taxpayer very seriously. EXIM will continue to have Board of Directors meetings and take other appropriate measures in the coming weeks. EXIM has an internal coronavirus taskforce, which is part of a whole-of-government approach, to monitor any potential impact to EXIM’s customers and portfolio. Please let us know how we can be of help and stay further connected to us by subscribing to EXIM’s news releases.

We know the primary concern of each of you is the well-being of your families and businesses, and we also are aware that in the months following the COVID-19 outbreak, exporting may be a challenge for many of our nation’s businesses, especially America’s small businesses. We are working tirelessly to ensure our nation has the proper programs in place to provide U.S. exporters with the financing and other products necessary to export “Made in the U.S.A.” goods and services in the future.

If you have questions, concerns, or wish to share ways that EXIM can further support your business or organization, we encourage you to reach out. The agency is committed to fully supporting the U.S. exporting community and the American people during this crisis.

Please stay safe and stay healthy.

Sincerely,

Siganture

Kimberly A. Reed
President and Chairman, EXIM
