For immediate release World Trade Center Delaware hosts 17th Annual Tug Cruise on the Christina River Climb onboard a working tugboat and sail the Christina and Delaware rivers for the only annual networking event that offers this perspective on Delaware’s waterfront and world trade, as World Trade Center Delaware hosts its annual Tug Cruise and Mixer. Now in its 17th year, the Tug Cruise is both a popular World Trade Center Delaware tradition and a rare chance to visit the Port of Wilmington for a gathering with colleagues over drinks and munchies. Tickets often sell out well before the event. Guests board the Wilmington Tug company’s boat at the port and sail down the Christina River to the Delaware River, as far as Pea Patch Island and Fort Delaware (weather and tides permitting). On board, attendees get an up-close-and-personal look at tankers bringing fresh orange and apple juice from Brazil, and can see endless lines of Dole and Chiquita banana containers, and learn about the Port as a free-trade zone. Sponsors include Dogfish Head Craft Brewery, Wilmington Tug Inc., Dole Fresh Fruit Company, The Oppenheimer Group, Port of Wilmington Maritime Society and the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce. The 17th Annual Tug Cruise takes place from 5:30-8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4. Tickets are $80/WTC members and $90/non-members, with an open bar that includes beer donated by Dogfish Head Brewery and hors d’oeuvres. Flat-heeled shoes are recommended for comfort and safety.
