To: Maritime Exchange Members As you may be aware, Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay has published a notice of proposed rulemaking which would create a permanent security zone within the Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers in the vicinity of the Philadelphia International Airport. A permanent security zone would eliminate the need for Coast Guard to undertake the time-consuming internal processes necessary to establish a security zone each time a VIP arrives or departs the airport, especially when short notice is given. The Exchange has worked with a small group of members to develop a set of comments to the docket and now invites all members with an interest in this issue to review the draft letter and let us know whether your organization would like to join as a signatory. Because comments to the proposed rule are due by next Wednesday, June 14, please contact Lisa Himber by Monday, June 12 to provide any suggested changes to the draft letter and/or indicate your interest in signing on to the letter. Exchange members are welcome to share this letter with other agencies and organizations which may be interested in sending similar comments.
